KATHMANDU, SEP 21 -
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh
has said that prosperity of Nepal and India is interlinked and it is
impossible for India to gain the same without stable, prosperous and
peaceful Nepal.
Speaking at a press meet before wrapping up his three-day visit on
Saturday, Singh said India will help Nepal's plan to become a prosperous
and stable nation.
"India is always ready to help Nepal in its socio-economic
development," he said, adding that once Nepal government comes up with
concrete plan for development, India is ready to offer help.
Singh visited Nepal to attend the sixth meeting of the Saarc Ministers
of Interior/Home. During his stay, he met with President Ram Baran Yadav
and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, among other leaders. They expressed
commitment to promulgate new constitution within the slated time, Singh
said.
"India wishes peace, stability and prosperity in Nepal," he said,
adding that relations between the two countries are very cordial and
intimate. On the occasion, he also lauded Nepali people's role in the
Indian security agencies and said such role has helped strengthen ties
between the two countries.
According to Singh, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to
Nepal last month created positive effects and recent agreements on the
development of Upper Karnali Hydropower Project between Indian company
GMR and the Nepal Investment Board would pave a way for further foreign
investments in Nepal.
The deal, he said, is tremendous achievement for both the countries.
He said the sixth meeting of the Saarc Ministers of Interior/Home agreed to curb various crimes, including terrorism.
Responding to journalists' queries, Singh said the issue of religious
secularism depends on Nepali people's decision and it is not necessary
to comment on the matter.
